Countering CBRN IED Terrorists Search

• Threat – Local, National, and international threats.
• Methods of attack – Types of IED’s, parts of IED’s, Weapons.
• Searching People – Types of searches: Cursory, Detailed, Intimate. Use of Technology.
• Offensive Vehicle Search – Depriving terrorists/criminals of their resources, gathering evidence for a prosecution, gathering intelligence.
• Defensive Vehicle Search – Protecting venues, roadblocks/checks.
• Offensive Building Search – Depriving terrorists/criminals of their resources, gathering evidence for a prosecution, gathering intelligence.
• Defensive Building Search – Protecting venues for events/visits, Island sites, search & screening of vehicles and visitors.
• Planning Search Operations – Intelligence gathering, writing operational orders for search operations, logistics and administration.
• Area Search – Systematic searching of open areas to locate terrorist/criminal hides .
• Route Search – Various methods to protect routes used by VIP’s/Convoys from terrorist attacks.
• Written assessments.
• Assessed Practical Exercises of all knowledge areas. This will take the form of planning and practical exercise, including the writing of an operational order.
• NB – Additional modules may be added on request (such as Mortar Base Plate assessments, MANPAD protection, body recovery, bomb scene search, convoy planning).

This course is suitable for military and security personnel who will be in security teams who are protecting VIP’s or venues. It is possible to adapt the training to suit the needs of private security teams involved in protecting venues.

The participants learning experience will be enhanced if there are a variety of venues available for the search exercises. All students should be physically fit and not suffer from claustrophobia.
