The Hotzone Identifier Explosives kit enables rapid assessment and identification of commercial, military and homemade (HM)
explosives and components. The kit features set of tools and procedures to provide its user with the critical information on the unknown substances flammability, explosive behavior, acid- base properties, aggressive/corrosive behavior, reactivity with water, relative solubility and density. All tools are carefully selected to be used with the potentially sensitive material.
Colorimetric tests detect explosive fuel precursors such as hydrocarbons, carbohydrates, heavy metal powders (aluminium, magnesium, iron, copper), and sulphur. Oxidiser tests identify distinct components known to be used with the explosive mixtures. Specific and generic colorimetric analytical assays target urea and ammonium nitrate based explosives (ANAL, ANFO, ANS), nitro aromatic (TNT, DNT, DNB) and nitro aliphatic (TNG, PETN, RDX, HMX, Semtex, C2, C4) explosives, and azides.
