This course provides participants with the knowledge, skills and abilities to analyse the risks at a hazardous materials or weapons of mass destruction incident; and to plan and implement safety procedures of responders during hot and warm zone operations. The course is based on the competencies for HAZMAT Safety Officers as outlined in NFPA 472, Standard for Competence of Responders to a Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Incidents and provides Safety Officers with the core competencies of Safety Officers as defined in Chapter 11 of NFPA 472. Applicant for this course should have been attended CBRN General Awareness Training (40 hours), incident safety officers, on-scene incident commanders, medical clearance from employer to work in personal protective equipment
