Formulating an accurate Threat Assessment is essential to any Bomb Squad responding to an IED incident. Being able to assess the threat from an incident control point prior to taking any further action is key to being able to accurately advise the perimeter and public on safety concerns and will allow for the development of a response plan that is both effective and efficient. The course starts with theory lessons on threat assessment techniques and an update on the devices currently being deployed world-wide by various terrorist organizations. The remainder of the week is consumed by responding to various scenarios that incorporate those threat devices, but in a current US environment. The week concludes with a final day spent on a range responding to vbieds. A complete instructor-led debrief is provided at the conclusion of each task.
